Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja told the Pakistan Senate Standing Committee that 50 per cent of the PCB is run on the ICC funding, and the ICC gets 90 percent of its funding from India.
He added Prime Minister Narendra Modi could shut down the PCB the day he want to.
In reply to the senator’s question, Raza said the PCB has zero contribution to the ICC funding.
Pakistan’s economy has collapsed, and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi’s request to countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE and the USA for a bailout package has fallen on deaf ears.
“The PCB gets 50 percent of its funding from the ICC. The ICC conducts tournaments and the income generated from them is distributed among its member boards. Now, 90 percent of the ICC funding is generated from the Indian market. In other words, Indian business houses are running Pakistan cricket,” Raza told the Senate committee.
In September this year, the New Zealand cricket team abruptly cancelled the Pakistan tour amid security concerns.
In 2019, the Australian cricket team had cancelled the Pakistan tour amid security concerns.
