Uttar Pradesh government presents first paperless budget in State Assembly

The Uttar Pradesh government presented its first paperless budget today. It is the Yogi government’s fifth budget. With this, it has also become the first state in the country to table a paperless budget. The arrangement was made in advance for doing away with paper in presenting the budget. All the MLAs were provided tablets and two giant screens were placed inside the hall. The state has the largest legislative assembly in the country with 403 elected members. It also has one nominated Anglo-Indian member. The government announced the name of the forthcoming airport in Ayodhya as ‘Maryada Purushottam Shriram Airport’. It allocated 101 crore rupees for the project. The government had earmarked 525 crore rupees in December last year for the acquisition of land for the airport. The airport will be developed by the Airports Authority of India. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said this year’s budget is INR 5,50,270.78 crore which is 7.3% more than previous years’ budget. He also thanked the state’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna for presenting a paperless budget.
