NIA arrested a PFI- SDPI leader, who attacked the police station during the Bengaluru riots.
The National Investigative Agency has arrested a PFI-SDPI leader Syed Abbas in connection with the Bengaluru riots. On August 11, 2020, a group of Islamists attacked Congress MLA Anantha Sreenivasa Moorthy’s house because of a post posted by his nephew on Facebook. Four rioters were killed in the police firing on that day.
Karnataka police had handed over the case to NIA on September 22, 2020. NIA had booked 138 people in connection with the riots. As per NIA, Sayyed Abbad and other hooligans attacked the police at KG Halli police station and burned vehicles. Sayyed is the president of SDPI Nagawara unit.
A special NIA court has granted 6-day custody of Sayyed Abbad to the NIA.
