The Taliban raided the closed Indian consulate premises in Kandahar and Herat on Wednesday (August 18) following the notorious Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI instructions. They searched for papers, documents of local contacts.
After finding no papers on the premises, the Taliban took away the parked cars.
“#BREAKING: On instructions of Pakistan ISI, Taliban conducted a search at the Indian Consulates in Kandahar and Herat. Taliban was asked to look for some documents. Taliban also has surrounded the Indian embassy in Kabul. No documents found. Pak ISI likely upto some mischief,” posted senior Indian journalist Aditya Raj Kaul on Twitter.
The Taliban acting upon ISI instructions is no secret as Pakistan gave shelter to the Taliban after the US entered Afghanistan in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks. The US forces toppled the Taliban regime, and they had to flee to Pakistan.
After the US-led NATO forces withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban officially took control of the country on August 15. They entered the capital city, Kabul, and captured the parliament and the President's palace.
The Taliban are also going door-to-door to identify Afghan nationals who worked for the NDS. The NDS is the National Directorate of Security, a state-run intelligence agency of Afghanistan.
