Now Mumbai Mayor Targets Kumbh, Says Returning Devotees Will Spread Corona Like ‘Prasad’

In a shocking comment, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said devotees returning from the Kumbh in Haridwar would spread corona like ‘prasad’. She asserted that devotees returning from Haridwar should be mandatorily quarantined. But she did not explain why Maharashtra has been the worst-performing state as far as Covid is concerned even before the Kumbh started. In fact, since the start of the pandemic last year, Maharashtra has been unable to control the spread of the virus. For long, together with Kerala, it was contributing more than 75% of the new cases in the country. Kumbh has become the punching bag for the inefficient politicians to hide their own failures and mismanagement. A cursory look at the social media platforms is enough to give ample idea of the attempts made by the vested interests to malign the Kumbh in Haridwar. Already, the Kumbh has been cut short to a month from the usual three/four months. Massive arrangements have been made for testing in the city. After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an emotional appeal this week to keep the celebrations in Kumbh to bare minimum , many Akharas are now declaring an end to the celebrations.

This was flagged off when Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was in India and was holding bilateral talks with her Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi. She also hailed ...
