Maoists lodged in Kerala jail sat on hunger strike mourning the death of Bhima-Koregaon violence accused Stan Swamy. 10 Maoists in Viyyur central jail lodged in various cases refused to take food.
Earlier, notorious Maoist Rupesh has given submission to the NIA court, seeking permission to observe one-minute silence inside the prison to pay condolences to the death of Stan Swamy. The court had refused to grant permission to this.
The jail officials informed the media that they are unaware of any hunger strike by the Maoists.
Bhima Koregaon Violence Accused Stan Lourduswamy Dead
Stan Lourduswamy, who was arrested in the Elgaar Parishad case, died in a Mumbai hospital on Monday (July 5th). Doctors at Holy Family Hospital, Bandra, informed the Bombay High Court that Lourduswamy, 84, passed away around 1.30 pm.
Earlier in March, while denying his bail plea, the NIA Court had said that Lourduswamy “hatched a serious conspiracy to create unrest in the entire country and to overpower the Government, politically and by using muscle power”.
“The material placed on record thus prima facie denotes that the applicant was not only the member of banned organisation CPI (Maoist) but he was carrying out activities further in the objective of the organisation which is nothing but to overthrow the democracy of the nation,” the Special Judge had said.
