Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police has nabbed the training commander of the Islamic radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI).
Mohammad Rashid was arrested by the STF team on Saturday night near Basti railway station. Rashid was apprehended when he was trying to go to Mumbai via Lucknow to take part in the training sessions of the PFI.
The Police recovered some documents with anti-national material, a CD, which is suspicious, a fake Aadhar card and a mobile phone from him. A case has been registered against him under various sections of the IPC at Kotwali police station in Basti. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
During interrogation, the PFI training commander confessed that his main aim was to brain-wash the Muslim youth, and imparts physical and weapons training and prepare them to trigger attacks in any part of the country.
