The Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh made the announcement today (August 26).
To honour Rambhakt Kalyan Singh, the Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh announced on Thursday (August 26) that it would name two medical institutes in the states after him.
The government medical college in Bulandshahr and the Superspeciality Cancer Hospital in Lucknow would be named after Rambhakt Kalyan Singh.
“पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री स्व. कल्याण सिंह जी के जनसेवा भाव को नमन करते हुए #UPCM श्री @myogiadityanath जी ने राजकीय मेडिकल कॉलेज, बुलंदशहर तथा सुपर स्पेशियलिटी कैंसर संस्थान, चक गंजरिया, लखनऊ का नामकरण स्व.कल्याण सिंह जी के नाम पर करने का निर्णय लिया है।”, the Chief Minister’s office in Lucknow posted on Twitter.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced that “the road leading to Ram Janmbhoomi in Ayodhya will be named after former UP CM Kalyan Singh. Besides Ayodhya, one road each in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr and Aligarh will be named after him.”
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh passed away on Saturday (August 21) after a prolonged illness. He was 89. A Rambhakt, he sacrificed his chief ministership but did not allow the police to open fire on Kar Sevaks in Ayodhya in December 1992.
His last rites were performed on Monday (August 23) at Rajghat in Narora of Bulandshahr district with full state honours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to Rambhakt Kalyan Singh in Lucknow on Sunday (August 22).
