In yet another incident that shows anti-Hindu forces trying to destroy local cultural symbols in Kerala, a scared Peepal tree was damaged by using a drilling machine and chemicals. The centuries-old peepal tree had been an integral part of the religious life of people from Mukkam (Kerala). Devotees observed the leaves of the tree becoming dry and found out the big hole and chemicals filled in that hole.
Local Hindus suspect Islamists’ role in this and have said that the Peepal tree will be protected at any cost. Kurukshetra Samskarika Vedi protested the attack on the Sacred tree by planting a sapling next to it.
Complaints have been filed with the local police, forest and Municipality authorities.
