The much-awaited Delhi-Meerut Expressway has been opened for the public today.
The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari tweeted saying “We have fulfilled our promise of reducing travel time between Delhi-Meerut from 2.5 hrs to 45 minutes.”
The 82-km long expressway has been constructed at a cost of INR 8346 crore.
The project has been completed in four phases. Two phases were already operational for people.
The project is expected to boost the connectivity in the Delhi NCR, thereby boosting economic activity.
With 24 bridges, 10 flyovers and three railway bridges, the expressway has seamless connectivity with its surroundings.
It also has 95 underpasses, 12 overbridges and more than 4500 lights.
