District & Sessions Judge Uttam Anand, who was out for his morning walk, was murdered, and the CCTV footage shows the involvement of an autorickshaw.
Uttam Anand, who was posted as District and Sessions Judge-8 in Dhanbad in Jharkhand, was murdered in the early hours on Wednesday (July 28) when he was out for his morning walk.
Earlier, it was believed that it was a road accident. But the CCTV footage of the incident raised suspicion.
"Around 5 am, a vehicle hit him from the rear and fled. The vehicle that hit him is yet to be identified. An auto-rickshaw was found to be involved from the CCTV footage of the area. The police are probing the incident and the offending vehicle would be nabbed soon," PTI quoted SSP Dhanbad Sanjiv Kumar.
The police started an intensive search after the judge's family informed Sadar police he did not return home at the Judge's Colony till 7 am. Police got news about an unclaimed body at the city hospital.
Another autorickshaw passing by in the same area saw the injured judge lying in a pool of blood on the roadside and shifted him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
