National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah said the centre should set a probe commission to find out who was really responsible for the genocide and exodus of Kashmir Pandits.

National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday (March 22) said the centre should set up a Commission to probe details on the causes responsible for the mass exodus of Kashmiri pandits from their homes in the 1990s.
"I think they (the BJP-led NDA regime) should appoint a Commission and that will reveal who is responsible," he told reporters in
Parliament premises.
On being further asked, "Sir, kahin na kahin aapki zimmedari bhi toh banti hae (Somewhere down the line you also are accountable), the former Union Minister remarked: "I have said ….if you want to know the truth, you should appoint a Commission."
The remarks have their significance as these came in the light of the newly released Bollywood film 'The Kashmir Files'.
There are some one-liners in the film 'The Kashmir Files'. "Kya Kashmiri Pandit ko apne ghar jaane ka mauka milega? Is this justice?"
The refrain so far, many say, has been to not ask these uncomfortable questions. The film talks about 'cultural genocide' and 'administrative genocide'.
BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya has upped the ante against former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, who claimed his father and also another former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah, was not responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
Amit Malviya shared a copy of the J&K Migrant Immovable Property Act, claiming it was introduced by Farooq Abdullah, in which November 1, 1989, was the 'cut off for exodus.'
Malviya further wrote, "Omar claimed his father Farooq Abdullah was not responsible for the genocide. It was a lie. Here is J&K Migrant
Immovable Property Act, introduced by Farooq Abdullah, in which November 1 1989 is the cut off for exodus. What did he do for 79 days, till January 18 1990, when he resigned as CM?"
Mr Malviya also said, "The fact that Farooq Abdullah resigned as CM on January 18 1990, and as if on cue the genocide was unleashed on hapless Kashmiri Hindus starting January 19 1990? That he ordered the release of 70 ISI trained dreaded terrorists?"
