Seven people were arrested from the Malappuram district in Kerala for predating people from a homosexual dating app named ‘Grindr’. Out of the seven, four are minors and the others are Muhammad, Sadique and Hussain. A group member had opened an account in the app ‘Grindr’ and met random people online promising them Homosexual sex for money. After informing the customers about the place and required money the gang used to film videos of the ‘customers’ and threaten them of ‘POCSO case’.
Money and valuable items were extorted from many people in this manner and were threatened with the video made forcefully.
Two people who were trapped by the gang had lodged cases against the gang at the Tirur police station in Malappuram district. In the investigation, the police have found that there were many people who were trapped and many are hesitant to come forward with complaints due to fear. Police are also probing whether they have any connection with the drug mafia.
