India slams Pakistan for fostering 'culture of violence', using UN as a platform against India

Maitra was replying to the comments made by the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations at the UN General Assembly hall.

India on Tuesday (September 7) attacked Pakistan for fostering a "culture of violence" both inside and outside its borders and for using the United Nations platform to make hate speeches against it.

While speaking at the high-level forum on the Culture of Peace convened by the President of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, Indian diplomat Vidisha Maitra noted: "A Culture of Peace is not just an abstract value or principle to be discussed and celebrated in conferences, but needs to be actively built into global relationships between and among member states."

"We have witnessed yet another attempt today by the delegation of Pakistan to exploit a UN platform for hate speech against India, even as it continues to foment a 'culture of violence' at home and across its borders. We dismiss and condemn all such efforts," she added.

Maitra was replying to the comments made by the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations at the UN General Assembly hall.

Munir Akram, in his remarks, brought up Jammu and Kashmir and mentioned the late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, rather than focusing on the meeting's theme.

Maitra also stated that the world should be concerned about terrorists, who use religion to justify their activities and those who support them in this quest.
