The Ruling DMK is adept at claiming credit for works and projects that were not initiated or completed by them. The recent one is taking credit for the evacuation of students from war-torn Ukraine. Its move to accord welcome boomeranged with the students shouting Bharat Mata ki jai, Vande Mataram, long live Modi, etc.
Tamil students from Ukraine were returned to Chennai on February 27. Tamil Nadu DMK Minister Mastan was at the airport to receive them. He gave them bouquets and took snaps with them. The minister tried to project their return as DMK's achievement. When he expected students to praise the CM Stalin, the students suddenly shouted, "Thank you Modiji for help", "Bharat Mata ki Jai", "Vande Mataram", "Modiji Vazhga" (long live Modi).
Chants rocked and reverberated through the Chennai airport during the arrival of stranded students in Ukraine by flight from Romania arranged by the Modi government. The red-faced minister left the place in a hurry.
Only one television channel aired the clip, but others made sure that it was edited out fully to avoid reaching the audience. But the video became viral on social media.

"DMK can write letters to Sri Lanka to free the fishermen arrested by its navy instead of writing to PM seeking his intervention. Poor marks in NEET and high costs plus donations in crores forced them to pursue studies in Ukraine and other countries. It should show the same concern for students in the state by supporting NEET. It should order private medical colleges to take students from Ukraine," BJP leader Praveen Kumar.
