In what could be regarded as a multi-million dollar scandal in Kerala, over 3,000 files have gone missing from the computer network of Kerala Medical Service Corporation (KMSCL, dealing with purchase of medical equipments at inflated rates. Transaction worth Rs 1200 crore happened and there are ample evidence to suspect a massive corruption.

In the preliminary investigation it was concluded that financial irregularities happed in the purchases of medical equipments during the COIVD period. Gloves were imported in larger quantities from England and low quality PPE kits were also imported in large numbers. There were instances of blood traces being found on 'new' PPE kits.

It is evident that this corruption allegation will put the Kerala government on back foot. The state is struggling to contain COVID-19 cases till date.
