My Ancestors Were Hindus, Says Bihar Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Zama Khan

He added, there could be no forced conversion in Bihar. And, if anyone gets someone forcefully converted, law will take its course.

Bihar Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Zama Khan said his ancestors were Hindu Rajputs from Rajasthan and later converted to Islam.

He added, his ancestors, Bhagwan Singh and Jairam Singh, who hailed from Baiswara in Rajasthan, migrated to Kaimur in Bihar in the 14th century AD.

The Singh brothers fought Allauddin Khilji alongside Sakarwar dynasty ruler Shalivahan. But they were defeated. Bhagwan Singh converted to Islam to save his family.

Khan said, “The descendants of Jairam Singh are still living in Saraiya village, adjacent to my village Naughara in Chainpur block of Kaimur district.”

“We still have family relations with Jairam Singh's family and invite each other for family functions and celebrations. I always visit my Hindu brothers in their village and, they visit us too,” he added.

He had won the 2020 Bihar assembly election from Chainpur in Kaimur district on Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) ticket but later shifted his loyalty to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United).

On July 4, in a book release function in Ghaziabad, Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat ji had said the DNA of all Indians are the same.

Khan added that under Nitish Kumar in Bihar, there could be no forced conversion and, if anyone converts any other person forcefully, the law will take its course.
