The state government has organized a felicitation programme at Sankardev Kalakshetra at 3 PM, where she would be accompanied by a huge rally by the state government.
Guwahati: Tokyo Olympic medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain reached home state Assam on Thursday (August 12) morning. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed her at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) Airport in Borjhar, accompanied by Sports Minister Bimal Bora and IPR minister Pijush Hazarika. Thousands gathered in the airport to receive the Olympic medal winner.
Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma wrote, “With pride & glory, I welcomed our star Olympian medalist @LovlinaBorgohai at Guwahati airport. Lovlina has ignited a billion dreams with her success in #TokyoOlympics2020 and set an example for budding sports talents in rural areas to aspire to achieve big on the world stage.”
Guwahati is all decked up to welcome Lovlina Borgohain today.
Hundreds of posters and life-size hoardings have been put across the city to welcome her.

Earlier on Wednesday, Lovlina enjoyed home-style Assamese food after more than a year, along with Union Minister and former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Delhi.
The boxer will return to Delhi tomorrow for a pre-scheduled assignment before she reaches her home at Borpathar in the Golaghat district of Assam.
