From Examination to World Cricket Championship; PM Modi interacts with class 12 CBSE students

In a surprise interaction with Class 12 students and their parents, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked them to utilise their time in a productive and creative manner after the cancellation of 12th Exam and said they should never take stress about any examination. The meeting was conducted after CBSE postponed its class 12th examination on June 1, 2021. In the Limited duration of the PM's interaction with students, the Prime Minister asked students about the evaluation and marking criteria. "I joined you suddenly, Hope I have not disturbed you, you were having fun, it looked like your joy was boundless because the exam was cancelled," the Prime Minister told the students. He asked students if they were tense before the exams and, on their responding positively, stumped them with, "Then my writing the book was futile. I had written in Exam Warrior that you should not get tense (a book about exams by PM Modi)." Nandan Hegde, a student from Bangalore, welcomed the decision to cancel the Class 12 CBSE examination saying that these were certainly not the last exams the students would appear for. “There are many more exams to go. Health is also important,” he said. During the meeting, PM Modi said, "Students of Class 12 always keep thinking of the future. Till June 1, you all must have been preparing for the exams," to which a student replies, "Sir, you have said that exams should be celebrated as a festival. So, there was no fear in my mind for examinations." PM Modi urged the parents and the students to speak on any issue other than the Board exams and there was a need to set aside the anxieties and look forward. PM Modi also asked the students to write an essay on the upcoming 75th Independence Day. He also sought to know whether the students would spend time watching IPL, Olympics or Champion’s League matches now that the exams were canceled. Some parents also shared their thoughts about how students can focus now on their college admissions. It is to be noted that earlier at a high-level meeting conducted on June 1 headed by Prime Minister Modi the decision was taken to cancel Central Board Secondary examination class 12. Prime Minister Modi in the meeting had said the decision is student friendly and will safeguard the health as well as future of our youth. CBSE officials have said that structuring the evaluation criteria for Class 12 students will take at least two weeks. “The process of completion of the criteria for evaluation of Class 12 students will take at least two weeks," a senior CBSE official said.
