Assembly Election 2021: Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh promise infiltration, terror and flood free Assam

Guwahati: Hitting the poll ground of Assam, where the first phase polling for State legislative assembly is scheduled for 27 March, Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh in separate rallies promised the people to make Assam free from infiltration, terror and perennial flood while maintaining relentless development activities. Addressing two major poll rallies in Margherita and Nazira on Sunday seeking supports from electorates for Bhartiya Janata Party nominees, Shah promised that the menace of illegal migrants in Assam would be a matter of past within the next five years. He asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Union government can only safe Assam from the infiltrators. Talking about the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah commented that the Congress leader has already taken AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal with him and so Rahul can never protect Assam from the influx. He questioned the listeners can Ajmal ever be helpful to the people of Assam as the Muslim centric leader always bats for the religious minority. Shah repeated the Centre’s promise to deal with the problems of flood and erosion pragmatically if the saffron party is voted to power in Dispur once again. He claimed that both the governments in New Delhi and Dispur have played a pivotal role in bringing down the insurgency to the minimum level. The hardliner BJP leader criticised former PM Manmohan Singh, who represented Assam in Rajya Sabha, for doing a little to solve the problem of infiltration and annual flood. Shah put forward the government in Dispur led by Sarbananda Sonowal along with Himanta Biswa Sarma as a saviour to the people and their cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Singh addressed three rallies in Biswanath, Gohpur and Dergaon to assure the people that the wheel of development would be continued in the coming days as the saffron party was expecting re-election. He remembered great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan and legendary cultural personality Dr Bhupen Hazarika paying tributes to the departed souls. He expressed optimism that the BJP would come to power in West Bengal too after Assam. Singh pointed out that the developmental activities of New Delhi would cover the entire eastern Indian region and make it a prosperous region in the country very soon, where Assam would take an important role.
