The Delhi Public Global School-based in Moradabad has triggered massive controversy by advertising for a summer camp for children in the age group of 8-15 for imparting Islamic education online. The school had also created a website for the purpose.
The advertisement released by the DPGS school states “adoption of Islamic values in personal life” as the subject matter of the two-day- 3 hour each summer camp. It also carries pictures of Islamic places like Kaba and lists topics like- “what is Islam?”, “How to understand Quran” & “responsibility of a Muslim” for discussion during the camp
The intention of the school is evident from the advertisement itself. There, it is written that the ‘summer camp’ was open to all and not just Muslim students. While being caught-red handed, School manager Mansoor Siddiqui said- “we had picked up the subject to draw in Muslim students for the summer camp and inculcate nationalistic values in them. We had no intention to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments or promote religious conversion”.
The school was forced to cancel the online summer camp which was to be held on the 3rd & 4th July after Hindu organisations launched massive protests against the school’s propaganda for religious conversion.
