Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State, PMO, Dr. Jitender Singh on Sunday laid the foundation stone and performed the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Majeen in the outskirts of Jammu. Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the temple, YV Subba Reddy and other Board Members of the Trust were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Governor Sinha said that religious tourism in Jammu Division will get a boost with the construction of the temple. He said that TTD will build the temple along with the Vedic School and hospital. He said that once developed, the TTD infrastructure will be an attraction for the pilgrims and tourists in addition to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Amarnath Ji Shrine.
The proposed Temple comprises Sri Venkateswara Swamy main temple with consorts of Sri Andal and Sri Padmavathi sub Temples. The Garbhalayams and Ardha Mandapam are proposed with South Indian granite stone, to depict the South Indian Templer Architecture. Mukhamandapam has proposed with RCC framework worth cement sudai ornamental features.
The temple will also have a pilgrim amenities Complex, Vedapatasala, Spiritual/Meditation Centre, office, Residential Quarters and parking. The total cost of the project is estimated at 33.22 crore rupees. The Temple will be constructed within 18 months period.
