In a shocking incident, one Majid Khan, 23, raped a 15-year-old minor in Malegaon in Maharashtra and tried to convert her for marriage.
When the girl refused to convert, Khan asked his three other friends to rape her.
All four have been booked under various sections of Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, Indian Penal Code and MP Freedom of Religion Act.
The Madhya Pradesh Police in Ujjain arrested Khan with the help of the victim. The hunt is on for the other three accused.
The victim had gone to Malegaon to work as a labourer when the incident happened in October last year.
She came back to live with her sister in Ujjain but did not tell anybody about the incident.
In April this year, when she was admitted to a hospital following stomach pain, the family got to know about her pregnancy.
The victim’s parents are poor and live in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh.
The baby, who was born premature, died.
A joint team of MP Police and the Maharashtra Police exhumed the body of the baby for forensic examination.
