The Delhi Police Saturday night arrested Sahjad and Faizan for the daring chain snatching and murder in Delhi’s Rohini and Manju Ka Tila.
The video of the chain snatching had gone viral on social media platforms.
After snatching chains from two women in Rohini in the morning of March 17, the accused had murdered one Nepalese woman in Manju Ka Tila. Meena Tamang had resisted chain snatching.
The accused and his neighbours attacked the police team which had gone to arrest Sahjad and Faizan in the Geeta colony.
Police told the press Faizan had more than 25 criminal cases registered against him.
The two accused first targeted two women in Rohini in the morning at 6:30 am on March 17. Since it was early morning, the street was relatively empty. Fifteen minutes later, they attempted chain snatching in Manju Ka Tila. When Meena Tamang, who used to run a tea shop, resisted, they fired bullets in her chest.
She succumbed to her injuries.
The chain snatching in Rohini was captured on CCTV.
The police scanned more than 100 CCTV footage to identify the accused.
