BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda made lavish praise on Tamil language and the people for their having a unique blend of entrepreneurship, economic and cultural ethos. He also made it official that the ties between AIADMK and BJP will continue for the forthcoming assembly polls.
Clad in Tamilian’s traditional silk white dhoti and shirt with a shawl on his left shoulder, Nadda who is on a three-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to kick start the poll campaign, had darshan at the famous Madurai Meenakshi Sundereswarar temple. From there, he reached Goripalayam junction to garland the statue of freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar. During the day, he met the core committee members, social media and IT team. He reviewed the poll preparedness and election strategies. Later while addressing a public meeting, Nadda asserted that Tamil is the world’s oldest language and Tamil people have a unique mix of entrepreneurship, economic and cultural ethos. Tamil Nadu is the land of Cheras, Cholas, and Pandiyas and the Tamil culture grew in their period and leaps and bounds. He recalled Prime Minister Modi had quoted a couplet from Thirukural to soldiers at Ladakh. PM also cited Sangam era poet Kanian poongundranar “ Yadum Oorey… yavarum kelir’‘ ( we belong to all places and to everyone. All are our relatives) at UN General assembly in 2019.” Modi has been quoting Tamil writing, poems. If you (TN voters) take care of Lotus (BJP symbol) it would take care of you” Nadda said. He said with pride the Madurai as a ‘pious land’ home of Goddess Meenakshi and remembered Mahatma Gandhi, who took a vow to wear dhoti only during his visit here.
Listing out the projects like defence corridor for Tamil Nadu while the state was ignored during the Congress rule. He said “when the right person is in the right place, right decision making are made. Tamil Nadu is safe and its development is assured when Modi is at the helm. The destiny of Tamil Nadu has also changed for good”. After PM Modi took over the reins at Delhi, a ‘safe destiny’ was assured for the Bharat and Tamil Nadu as well. Projects like the defence corridor, Rs.1,200 crore AIIMS medical college, several smart city projects or allocation of funds for the state, the situation has changed only after the BJP came to power at the Centre. He said a slew of the project with potential to create job opportunities have been embarked on a massive scale in Hosur. Under the Swatch Bharat scheme, 11 crore toilets were built and of this 56 lakhs are in Tamil Nadu. Nearly 30 lakh women in the state have been provided with LPG connection under the Ujjwala scheme. Over 11 core farmers have been given financial assistance under the PM Kishan Samman Nidhi. Under Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana, nearly 5.30 lakh houses have been built for the homeless. More funds allocation for Railways to undertake projects in Tamil Nadu, Chennai Metro Rail, Smart City projects and four-lane road project linking Madurai with important cities. Of this 35 lakh farmers are from Tamil Nadu. The state has received 95,540 crores under the UPA rule in the 13th Finance commission, but it was hiked to Rs.5,42,048 crores during NDA regime”.
Nadda coming down heavily on the DMK saying that during the anti-Tamil, anti-national DMK rule, the state had witnessed an overall decline. Today they are doing drama now by carrying Vel to cheat voters.
Nadda and other BJP leaders Tamil pitch assume significance, as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi last week commented that the BJP had no respect for Tamil language and Tamil culture.
Setting at rest all speculations, the BJP chief Nadda officially announced BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK for the upcoming assembly elections. While addressing a public meeting, he said “both parties (AIADMK and BJP) will face the polls together”. It is the first time that the BJP has made in clear its stand on the alliance issue. In November last, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was here to launch various projects. In that government function in Amit Shah’s presence, CM Palaniswamy and his deputy OPS announced that the alliance with the BJP would continue for the assembly polls. Amit Shah or top national “BJP leaders neither endorsed their announcement nor rejected or made any comments. At that time there was an expectation that Rajini Kant would launch his political party. It was the reason for their keeping mum on relations with AIADMK. BJP wanted a mega alliance to end the Dravidian rule and the traditional duel between DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu” pointed out journalist Jayakrishnan
A few days ago, TN in charge CT Ravi said the AIADMK would decide the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance ending the war of words between them. Earlier BJP was saying it would announce the CM candidate. Former CM Jayalalithaa’s confidante VK Sasikala was released on 27th of this month from Bengaluru jail. Nadda made the alliance announcement before she reached Tamil Nadu. The National BJP chief said both parties would work in tandem for the development of Tamil Nadu and the nation. “ Both MGR and Jayalalithaa had always strived to ensure the development of Tamil Nadu by preferring a nationalist approach.
JP Nadda is to visit Puducherry to pep up election works. A couple of days ago, Congress minister and an MLA joined BJP in his presence Delhi. Many more MLAs are speculated to join the BJP.
