Mysuru: Senior swayamsevak and former Shimoga Zilla Sanghachalak Benaka Bhat passed away during the early hours of February 26. He was 85. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and 3 sons.
Benaka Bhat was a native of Chakkoda Bailu Village of Thirtahalli Taluk in Shimoga district. He was very actively involved in Sangh activities in the district from the very first days of its beginning.
His role in expanding of Sangh work in the Shimoga was exemplary. He was actively involved in practising and advocating organic agriculture, education, Gram Vikas, Kutumb Prabhodan, social harmony, and co-operatives benefiting every sphere of the society. His practical knowledge in each of the above fields made him much sought after for any problem.
With the passing away of Benaka Bhat, RSS has lost a major link to the first batch of Swayamsevaks in the state and a part of its growth history in Karnataka. His last rites were performed in his native village of Chakkoda Bailu on February 26. RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri V Nagaraj and many other prominent personalities condoled the passing away of Benaka Bhat. n
