Agitation is the democratic right of every citizen but certain leaders have lost the thin line between Modi hating and India hating. It is a fashion with Modi haters to criticize the majority thereby presenting themselves as secularist despite knowing the ill effects of appeasement.
- Prof. M. K. Bhat
North East Delhi saw its worst carnage, after the Sikh riots of 1984 in the last month. It was projected by some as a conflict between pro CAA and anti CAA protestors, others held it as an outcome of so called hate speech by Kapil Misra, it was not both. Actually it was a well planned carnage brewing in Shaheen Bagh from last two months under big cutouts of national leaders, with constitution in hands, and National anthem/patriotic songs on lips. Women, children and innocent people were extensively used /taught against India and the present regime. Azadi slogans, foreign funds, hate speeches were adding to the taste of Biryani from PFI. The foreign press added fuel to fire by motivating people to pen down lies to defame India. The actors of this horror movie were opposition, hate mongering Moulvis, Tukde Tukde Gang, Pseudo secular press and its villain was Kapil Sharma. Muslims were made to believe as if the government is going to throw them out in a day or two. This was further infuriated by Delhi elections in which every political party tried to polarize one or the other section of people in its favor. In short the agitation on the busy road hostaged 20 lakh people for two months and no one questioned about troubling people for no fault of theirs. The arrival of President Trump was designated as the date of release for this movie so that it can get international acceptance quickly.
The CAA protest turned into communal riots in the night of 23 February 2020,continued for three days, leaving more than 50 people dead and hundreds injured, vehicles burnt, shops looted and stone pelters pelted trucks of stones, acid and petrol bombs were used, religious places were not spared and loss of millions took place. Guns and pistols were used without any hesitation by anti-social elements and nearly six to seven feet slingshots erected on roof tops were used. AAP did nothing to contain riots except blaming Delhi police and Kapil Misra as if they installed slingshots on rooftops to attack the majority community. It least tried to mobilize its activists or people against riot. The state Chief minister acted as mute spectator to the happenings. Communal clash is not new in India but these were planned in advance, supported by educated and powerful people with due patronage from political parties, media and anti national elements. This cocktail will be bitter for the country to swallow if no action is taken against those involved.
These riots exposed the dual attitude of secularists calling wolf. Harish Mandar, the so called social activist, filed public interest litigation in Supreme Court to register FIR against a few members of BJP for alleged hate speech. This is opposite to the fact that he himself had resorted to such tactics by instigating people to seek justice on roads not from the Supreme Court or parliament. His video was put before judges. This nefarious design of secularists to put the blame on others has been in vogue since independence. The same thing was repeated by congress president Sonia Gandhi by telling people to take position and decide once for all, the provocative statement of Waris Pathan of 30 crore will prove heavy on 100 crore needs no explanation. His hate mongering Gurus like Asuad din Owasi, Moulvis of various mosques and people like sharjeel imam Instigated Muslims to retaliate by developing fear psychosis in them.
Agitation is the democratic right of every citizen but certain leaders have lost the thin line between Modi hating and India hating. It is a fashion with Modi haters to criticize the majority thereby presenting themselves as secularist despite knowing the ill effects of appeasement. These people advertise that the present regime is not accommodative of their anti national sloganeering like Jinnah wali Azadi, Free Kashmir, the relation with India is of lai illa ilala etc. How any government loyal to its people can accept such things is a big question in itself? They fail to realize that people have rejected congress because of its appeasement beyond limits.
An in-depth study of the East Delhi riot makes one take them as a replica of terrorist attacks on Kashmir Pandits in1990 otherwise 400 cuts on Ankit Sharma would not have been done.
The conspiracy to tarnish the image of India in front of Donald trump too cannot be ruled out especially after the video of Umar Khalid surfaced. It was seen as a golden opportunity to internationalize the so-called antipathy of the present government towards minorities in India. As per media reports people are paid by motivated agencies to criticize India.
An in-depth study of the East Delhi riot makes one take them as a replica of terrorist attacks on Kashmir Pandits in1990 otherwise 400 cuts on Ankit Sharma would not have been done. It has not happened in any communal riot so far. This seems a well concerted move to make people sell their property at throw away prices and thereby change the nomenclature of the area.
The significant thing which gave enough oxygen to these riots was rumor mongering by smartphones. The utilization of these phones was carried to its hilt in spreading lies in the public. Videos were uploaded some genuine and some fabricated to further ignite the fire .Kudos to Delhi police for its swift action in stopping the repetition of east Delhi in other areas. It may be said to the credit of social media that it brought to fore certain genuine concerns of people which regular media perhaps would not have done due to its polarized approach. It provided live proof to police about the various incidents that happened in front of their eyes and many incidents showed the direct involvement of politicians. The low profile of regular media provided enough space for social media to flourish.
The law makers were ghastly involved in various incidents at different places in these riots. The involvement of AAP leaders Tahir Hussain and Amantullah khan besides others is quite evident from the ground reports as well as videos in the public domain. When the law maker himself becomes law breaker there remains no space for any other suspicion. The bricks on roof top, acid bottles, hateful lectures and petrol bombs besides the eye witnesses convey a lot about their involvement.
It is equally true that a sizable portion of Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya’s reside in East Delhi, they have often been found involved in various crimes in that area. These elements got a free day under the umbrella of anti CAA. Rioters were emboldened by no action against those who called for the disintegration of the country in JNU. The rioters have confidence that the present state government, for which they voted, will never take any punitive action against them as it had not allowed the same against Kanhiya kumar from the last six years. This was also because information agencies were busy with the American president and they took stocked items as construction material.
East Delhi will gear up as its majority has to work to earn its livelihood but the scars of carnage may remain on the psyche of people for a long time. It is a shame that people have to leave their homes behind to save their life. The government must come out with necessary relief measures to rehabilitate its citizens and strictly punish those responsible for riots. The confidence will not develop in people by the casual picnics of a few political leaders. It needs concerted action against those responsible for such riots.
