"Identify the trouble spots across the country where violence erupts easily in issues against national security; Do not yield even a little on the false claims of those who oppose CAA," BMS urges the Union Government
The 145th National Executive Committee of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) meeting hold on February 1-2, 2020 at Jodhpur, Rajasthan passed a resolution against the country-wide violent agitations and riots in the name of anti-CAA protest.

In the resolution, BMS demanded that the Government should show zero tolerance to any sort of anti-national tendencies and violent protests. The resolution also urged the government to identify the foreign hands and funding channels which supported the agitation.

“The government should identify the trouble spots across the country where violence erupts easily in issues against national security. It should not yield even a little on the false claims of those who oppose CAA,” the world’s largest independent national trade union demanded to the government.

“The initial opposition to CAA was centred on a false allegation that it has provisions against a particular religion. It indulged in what is termed as fear-mongering spread across India. On a reading of the three-page amendment, the truth that it is just otherwise came out. But by that time, the violent protests spread to different parts of the country. A little delay in exposing the false campaign has caused the violence to spread,” the resolution observed.

The resolution stated that India is known world over for the safest place for Muslim population and India hosts the second largest Muslim population in the world next to Indonesia. “No one needs to doubt the fact that they are an integral part of India,” BMS said in the resolution.

"Those organizations which hitherto claimed followers of Dr Ambedkar are conspicuously silent on his strong views on persecuted refugees from Pakistan and other countries," reads the resolution.

The organisation held the Opposition responsible for instigating communal sentiments among Muslims, and said, “The political parties opposing the Central Government and Sangh movement targeted instigating communal sentiments in some minority pockets to turn them against Central Government.CAA, which has nothing to do with Indian citizens,is being pictured falsely as taking away the rights and liberties of a section of Indian citizens based on religion.” The resolution also urged the Government to have healthy debates, dialogues and discussions with peaceful agitators to convince them.

Full text of BMS Resolution: Government should not yield to violent protests against CAA

Violent protest against Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 in some parts of the country displays a sharp ideological division at the national front with Nationalists on one side and those organisations involved directly or indirectly against national unity on the other side. Violent protests led to the rallying together of all those who support the breaking India team. Majority in the society and among workers support the CAA law whereas only a minority has fallen in the appeasement politics that opposes it. Those organizations which hitherto claimed followers of Dr Ambedkar are conspicuously silent on his strong views on persecuted refugees from Pakistan and other countries. There is a ridiculous trend of a few State Governments unscrupulously passing resolution rejecting the central law, rejecting previously instituted NRC, NPR, detention centres etc. as a political reaction. Violent protests taking place and disturbing peaceful atmosphere frequently in the country will have a destructive effect on our economy, growth, job creation and trade relations with other countries.

The initial opposition to CAA was centred on a false allegation that it has provisions against a particular religion. It indulged in what is termed as fear-mongering spread across India. On a reading of the three-page amendment, the truth that it is just otherwise came out. But by that time, the violent protests spread to different parts of the country. A little delay in exposing the false campaign has caused the violence to spread. There is a famous quote of Jonathan Swift: “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”. But soon the violent protests are fading away in spite of the fact that the political parties are trying to keep the situation to continue.

India is known world over for the safest place for the Muslim population. India hosts the second-largest Muslim population in the world next to Indonesia. No one needs to doubt the fact that they are an integral part of India. Their tranquillity is being disturbed for creating political support against the Central Government through false campaign. The political parties opposing the Central Government and Sangh movement targeted instigating communal sentiments in some minority pockets to turn them against Central Government.CAA, which has nothing to do with Indian citizens,is being pictured falsely as taking away the rights and liberties of a section of Indian citizens based on religion. In Indian sub-continent, only India has secularism, democracy and peaceful social life whereas the Islamic neighbouring countries are characterised by their total absence due to their theocratic statehood. Religious persecution is a daily affair there. Hence CAA that gives some concession to the persecuted refugees is a historical necessity. Even leading legal experts in opposition have dissented to the false campaign on the constitutional sustainability.

Migration is the single largest political issue even in the so-called developed countries, says Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee. No country in the world will tolerate any force acting against the interest of its integrity and security in the issue of migration. There are issues of Mexican migrants in US, anti-foreign rhetoric in Germany, Rassemblement national in France, Brexit in UK, issue of immigrants in Italy which is about 20% of the total population, migrant issues in Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia etc. Those foreign media which accuse India forget the fact that about 34000 migrants died tragically between 1993 and 2014 in Europe; not only while travelling in the sea, but also in detention blocks, asylum units and town migrant centres.

Right to Peaceful agitation and protest is fundamental to every civilised society. Without it democracy cannot survive. Every citizen in the country is duty-bound to protect this right. But once it crosses the Lakshmanrekha of non-violence, it ceases to have the honour or status of a protest. Violence in the name of protest cannot be equated with democratic rights. It is intolerance that is sprouting into violence. Violence being used as a means of protest should be nipped in the bud. Agitations starting with violence by anti-socials and supported by some political and other groups and spreading to various parts is something to be cautiously looked into. This tendency we have seen during the anti-national uprising of breaking India team whether it is in the JNU issue, Jamia Millia violence, Kashmir issue, scrapping Art 370 etc. Now the nation could easily identify the elements centred in some pockets which stand against the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Some universities situated in Delhi are used as a recruiting and training place for youngsters in anti-national lines. It is more and more becomes visible that there is a vicious nexus developing between urban Naxals, foreign religious agencies, jihadi elements, foreign-funded NGOs, a section of biased communists in media and defeated political parties. Such groups are supported and funded by some institutionalized systems inside and outside India. More dangerous trend is a section of media under such interest groups are continuously inflaming situations spreading one-sided and wrong information. They propagating biased, one-sided views and news and inflaming violence should be seen separate from those stands fearlessly and unbiased for truth. The Government should have seriously understood, foreseen and promptly acted upon the breaking India brigade which is concentrated more in Delhi which is quite under its nose.

We also see those who failed in democratic elections are agitating with violence hoping for a resurrection against those who have succeeded gaining increased seats. Those who have proved to have no faith in democracy and secularism while they were in power are now giving sermons on that. The lack of credibility of such agitations is displayed when they conveniently avoided dialogue or debate on such issues and directly resorted to violent protests thereby trying to break India's fine fabric of unity and cohesiveness.

We congratulate the Government for its non-compromising stand against anti-national elements indulging in violent protests. We also congratulate the people of India at large for standing in support of the Government in addressing national issues. This is the best opportunity for the Government to identify and act against all anti-national forces working in the country.

Hence BMS demands that:

1. Government should show zero tolerance to any sort of anti-national tendencies and violent protests.
2. Government should enquire into those who are responsible for spreading violence.
3. The Government should identify the foreign hands and funding channels which supported the agitation.
4. Government should identify the trouble spots across the country where violence erupts easily in issues against national security.
5. Government should not yield even a little on the false claims of those who oppose CAA.
6. Government need not hesitate to have healthy debates, dialogues and discussions with peaceful agitators to
convince them.

We also urge all the Nationalists to strengthen their effectiveness in areas like academia, literary, art and film field, media, publications, women and Dalit movements etc. where pseudo-liberals easily play havoc against national interests.
