The External Affairs Ministry has said that the Indian High Commission is in close contact with local authorities in Bangladesh regarding incidents of violence against a minority community in that country.

Responding to media queries, MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, the authorities have taken this incident, and all other incidents relating to efforts to stoke social and communal tensions, very seriously.

The MEA spokesperson said, he was informed that the law enforcement authorities are investigating the outbreak of violence and that they continue to remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incident.

Hindu houses were attacked in the pretext of anti-France protests in Bangladesh. A mob burned down homes of Hindus in Chittagong. Stones were pelted and houses were set on fire as the mob stormed into the locality and destroyed the homes of at least 10 Hindu families.
