A complaint has been lodged against Twitter MD Manish Maheshwari to the Vidisha Police by a man named Shrikanth Sharma for unilaterally blocking a Twitter handle- True Indology. “The Twitter handle was shut by Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari after the social media platform termed the Diwali-related content posted there as false,” he said. He also called Twitter’s decision as “an attack on his freedom of expression”.

“The complaint against Managing Director of Twitter seeks that the MD be booked for allegedly deleting an account from the micro-blogging site. The complainant seeks restoration of the deleted account,” said Kotwalipolice station in-charge Virendra Jha.

“The accused was swift and ruthless in suspending the twitter handle True Indology after one Roopa Moudgil, IGP-Home Secretary of Karnataka took to Social Media spewing venom against a particular community for its peaceful Diwali celebrations” says the complaint. The complainant also elaborates on the irreversible loss that Twitter’s decision causes to the idea of ‘freedom to express’ in a free democracy. He also claims that the “offenses committed by the accused are punishable under Sections 295A, 500, 505, 506 of the Indian penal code”.

‘True Indology’ has been instrumental in promoting Indic culture and countering Islamo-Marxists’ propaganda and disinformation campaigns against Hinduism in the micro-blogging site. There had been multiple instances in the past where the Hindu voices were arbitrarily blocked by Twitter India, while the fake news peddled by the left faction remained unchecked.

Netizens have called out for an early restoration of TrueIndology handle. They are also questioning Twitter’s ‘selective’ targeting of the ‘freedom of expression’. This is not the first time that the micro-blogging site has blocked True Indology. The Handle has always been a target to Twitter’s intolerance towards Indic culture.
