VIVEK BAND - A Unique campaign to involve youth in Nation building

With the aim to spread the message of ‘BE GOOD - DO GOOD' on the occasion of the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a mega youth campaign VIVEK BAND-2018 has been organized by Samartha Bharata trust, a RSS inspired organization which is working towards promoting social volunteering among youth. The Campaign that began on January 12, 2019 is set to conclude on January 26, 2019.
The campaign started with the wearing of a wrist band carrying the message ‘BE GOOD - DO GOOD' on January 12th, 2019, to commemorate the 155th birthday of Swami Vivekananda, which is also observed as the National Youth Day. The campaign lasts for 2 weeks till January 26th, 2019. The theme of the campaign this year is ‘Do Good Activity’ and is three fold I.e a) Nurture a Plant b) Donate Blood and c) Do Vote.
Tree Doctor Vijay Nishant endorsed the campaign on the theme of ‘Nurture a Plant’ and Dr Radhakrishna of RV College of Engineering, who has donated blood 67 times endorsed Vivek Bands theme of ‘Donate Blood’. Singer and Youth activist Ohileshwari endorsed the campaign on its theme ‘Do Vote’, to encourage participation of youth to vote on voting day.
The Vivek Band Campaign aims to reach more than 6 lakh youth and students and let the message serve as a reminder of the immense potential and opportunities that the youth have, to transform their lives and to pledge to build a strong, healthy society.
The campaign entails:
1. Wearing Vivek Band with the message ‘BE GOOD – DO GOOD’ on 12th January
2. Involving in a service-oriented i.e. DO GOOD activity between 12th-26th January
3. Organizing an inspirational talk to spread the spirit of service and nationalism
4. Sharing BE GOOD DO GOOD experience on social media with the hashtag #VivekBand and other platforms to inspire others.
Eminent personalities from various sections of the society have endorsed the campaign over the years. These include: Smriti Irani, UnionMinister, Govt of India, Dr. D.Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of the Dharmasthala Temple, Poojya Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Matha, Dr Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman ISRO, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Art of living and many others.
