Cyclone ‘Titli’ hit the coastal Andhra on October 11, 2018, and has increased ever since. As per the Government estimates, the cyclone has affected 18 mandals and more than 850 villages in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh throwing the lives of around 12 Lakh people out of gear.

Winds up to 165 kilometres per hour were accompanied by heavy rainfall ranging from 10 cm to 43 cm caused serious damage to agriculture, horticulture, roads and houses. Electric poles and hundreds of trees fell to the ground causing a complete power shutdown and heavy disruption in traffic.

With approach roads affected, there has been a scarcity of essential supplies like water and food. The NDMA has taken stock of the situation and is providing all help to the affected. People are complaining about the lack of preparedness and lethargic response by the district and state administrations during these testing times. Medical supplies, The cyclone has progressed towards the Odisha coast, and the NDMA has released advisories to the people to brace themselves for any eventualities.

RSS Swayamsevaks pitch in
After Cyclone Titli hit Ganjam district in Odisha Coast, RSS Swayamsevaks from Hinjilikatu reached the affected areas and started relief work. They helped in clearing the fallen trees, clearing pathways for relief trucks and also helped people to reach safer destinations. In many parts of Odisha, ABVP karyakartas geared up for relief, and they also collected material and supplied it to the affected people.
