The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) directed Bhopal police to file an FIR against evangelist Shibu Thomas for his fake campaign. Baking this story, Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF) tweeted, “BREAKING: @NCPCR_directed @digpolicebhopal to register FIR against Mr. Shibu Thomas of Persecution Relief u/s 499, 500 of IPC for defamatory & false reports sent to various foreign agencies citing ‘Child Homes & Orphanages run by Christians are being persecuted in India.”
“This follows a complaint filed by Legal Rights Protection Forum to @NCPCR_ and a report submitted by the Govt of MP wherein @NCPCR_ has been informed that the Persecution Relief has not provided them with any factual information to substantiate the claims made in their report,” continued LRPF in a separate tweet.
Shibu Thomas, who founded Persecution Relief in 2015 has a bogus story published on his NGO’s website regarding the formation of Persecution Relief. It goes like ‘Holy Spirit’ requesting him to save the persecuted Churches in India and he simply obeyed the Lord’s command. This fake narrative of Christians under siege in India is used by such fraudsters to receive maximum foreign donations. A portion of this is used for creating ‘rice-bag Christians’. There are multiple allegations on Persecution Relief of defaming India before the global audience claiming that Christians are persecuted in India and financially aiding religious conversions.
