The ‘Faith Healing’ event schedule for 5-7 July was cancelled due to vigilant citizen foums
Hyderabad City police have denied permission to Christian Evangelical program that was to be attended by a foreigner in violation of Indian Visa Norms. Local Pastor Sudhakar Rao is behind the ‘Prophetic Healing Conference’ that was slated to happen between July 5 and 7 at Chikoti Gardens, Begumpet. South African Pastor M.W. Mashalane was illegally invited to attend this event.
As per the Indian norms, foreigners are prohibited from participating in religious activities in the country.
Citing this rule, Hyderabad based NGO Legal Rights Protection Forum raised objection and filed complaint against the evangelist’s participation with Foreigners Regional Registrations Hyderabad office as well as with Central Bureau of Immigration Delhi.
The NGO also attached the reply received from Ministry of Home Affairs under Right to Information Act that clearly states that foreigners are prohibited indulging in religious activities in India.
AS Santosh, President of Legal Rights Protection Forum received the reply from the HMO to his RTI, corroborating the fact that foreigners are prohibited from indulging in religious activities in India
Hindu Saghatan, a local organization also filed petition in the court against the organizers of the event. Following these complaints Hyderabad Police rejected the permission of the scheduled evangelical program.
