Despite repeated bans, SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) is reportedly active in Kerala and Bengal. No doubt, it is hand-in-glove with the extremist groups in the state! Government of India has reportedly mentioned this during the arguments concerning the ban on SIMI.
The terrorist outfits like Lashkar-E-Taiba, Jaish e Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen are effectively tackled by the agencies. But, SIMI is most dangerous and is rubbing the shoulders with the extremist organisations. It is deep-rooted in several states. They are strong in Kerala, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana. If they are not stopped they will continue their extremist activities.
Some observers believe that the underground SIMI is capable of a reunion again. In Kerala, they join hands with the radical Islamic outfits functioning in the country. The Kerala state government has apprised the Union Home Ministry of the extremist groups in the state.
Panayikkulam SIMI camp and Wagamon training centre for making bombs and weapons are strong pointers for Bharat.
