One lakh Ekal Vidyalayas by 2011
FOC

With the firm determination to raise the number of Ekal Vidyalayas to one lakh by the year 2011, the three-day Ekal Vidyalaya workers? training camp concluded in Indore on April 24. More than 4,000 full-time workers participated in the camp, which was inaugurated by Swami Satyamitranand, the founder of Bharat Mata Mandir, Haridwar. RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat and Shri Ashok Singhal, working president of VHP, were also present on the occasion. The camp was organised by Sewa Bharati. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Satyamitranand pointed out that Mahrishi Valmiki had started the first Ekal Vidyalaya by providing education to Lava and Kush. He said the Ekal Vidyalayas would prove helpful in national development. Talking about the present scenario of the country, he said that development of the country was not possible by making schemes on the paper while sitting in air-conditioned rooms. Speaking at the second session, Shri Ashok Singhal appreciated the feelings of the workers who were engaged in propagating education, health and in creating cultural awareness. He called upon them to help the people to rid the society of evils, superstitions and untouchability. The second day of the camp was marked by a large procession by participants from 25 states. At noon on second day, Shri Mohan Bhagwat called upon the workers to fulfill their resolve of providing education to all and increase the number of schools. The concluding session was addressed by Sadhvi Ritambhara who said that the glorious traditions and culture of the country were enriched and preserved by women. Shri Subhash Chandra of Zee TV presided over the concluded ceremony.
