Hindu Rashtra
Swayamsevaks are determined to achieve that goal
Entire city was immersed in a jubilant mood as Shri Mohan Bhagwat visited Bengaluru for the first time as Sarsanghachalak.

From R Guru Prasad in Bengaluru

Unity among Hindus is the need of the hour to establish the Hindu Rashtra and not spreading hate towards any religion. Shri Bhagwat, in his hour-long speech, stressed the need to protect environment and explained in a convincing manner that Hinduism always protects the nature and nature takes care of mankind.

General public may have lost hope on rebuilding Akhand Hindu Rashtra but swayamsevaks are determined to achieve that goal, come what may, because swayamsevaks are imbued with true education to serve and protect the nation. These are the words of RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat at two occasions: An intellectuals’ seminar in the morning which took place at Jain College and at a public meeting in the evening at Palace Grounds—both were held on November 22. Shri Mohan Bhagwat attentively and patiently listened to the appreciation, criticism and suggestions given to RSS and points of view of many invitees in the intellectuals’ and social leaders’ seminar to discuss about establishing harmony among Hindus. Most of the delegates expressed their concern over decreasing growth of Hindus and alarming increase of Muslims and Christians in Bharat particularly in Karnataka. Many talked about the pressure tactics being used by other religions to convert Hindus such as through Love Jehad and by offering money and status in the society, and degrading Hindu literatures by Christian missionaries. In a nutshell, everyone felt the caste system is the root cause for dividing the Hindu samaj and stressed the need for inter-caste marriages. Another prominent point discussed at the seminar was the need for a uniform civil code and stopping the appeasement of Muslims and Christians. One of the delegates threw light on the vote-bank politics played by the UPA government by mentioning the recent announcements such as (1) Rs 2500-crore interest-free loan for Muslims (2) Bank manager will be sacked if he/she fails to release Rs. 1 lakh within a weak under this scheme.

Shri Mohan Bhagwat clarified that RSS always stays away from politics and is interested only in nation building. He invited people to come to see the way RSS functions from a close angle, and urged those people who defame it to try to understand it and then comment. “Anybody can join RSS anytime and leave it anytime,” he said while giving an example that unless the sugar is put into the mouth, the sweetness cannot be understood in spite of reading books on sugar. Similarly RSS is being misunderstood by many and there is a need to understand it in a true spirit and help RSS achieve the goal of uniting Hindus. He further said swayamsevaks are clear in their minds to achieve this huge task and if all the Hindus come forward and support the RSS, this goal can be achieved faster. “I suggest that these types of harmony seminars should be held on a micro-level on a regular basis, so that an awareness about the urgent need for unity among Hindus can be reached to downtrodden people,” he said and recommended district-level meetings once a month and state-level meetings twice a year.

While addressing the public meeting, where 17,500 swayamsevaks congregated together to exhibit their talent in the form of attractive drills and playing ghosh, Shri Mohan Bhagwat urged the swayamsevaks for strengthening the border areas across Bharat. He cautioned that China is not reliable. “China wages a war if it wants. It makes friendship whenever it is necessary, but at the same time it tries to grab Indian land. So we have to be always prepared as far as China is concerned,” he said adding that though Pakistan and Bangladesh are creating troubles, none of the issues with these countries has been settled yet. India is unable to make its border safe even after more than 60 years of Independence. Calling upon the Hindus to stay united, Shri Bhagwat stressed the need for the Hindu community to be more organised as it is necessary for the country and the world to be peaceful. Hinduism is the way of life and wherever Hindus have reduced to minority, that area suffered problems as the principle of unity in diversity vanished there. Also praying to God for the betterment of all is practised only in Hinduism and countries like Pakistan sponsor terrorism on Indian soil though they themselves are trapped in their own misdeeds. Every one living in Bharat is inclined towards Hinduism and tends to follow moorti puja, singing bhajans, etc., though he is practising a different religion, he said and added RSS is not against any community. He recalled the incident of a village panchayat, which had asked Shri Guruji about starting an RSS shakha in their village where no one from Muslim or Christian community lived. Shri Guruji quickly said that RSS would spread everywhere because unity among Hindus is the need of the hour to establish the Hindu Rashtra and not spreading hate towards any religion. Shri Bhagwat, in his hour-long speech, stressed the need to protect environment and explained in a convincing manner that Hinduism always protects the nature and nature takes care of mankind. In earlier days science and technology was not so progressed but people used to live a healthy and peaceful life because of going with the nature and respecting the eco-system, he added.

Swayamsevaks got appreciation both from public and police for lending a helping hand in managing the vehicular traffic both inside and outside the grounds. It can be recalled that many political parties, which had organised such meets, used to block the roads by mismanagement and public used to suffer and sometimes passengers missed their flights as the Palace grounds road leads to Bengaluru International Airport.

It was 9.40 pm on November 20. Officers belonging to state intellegence were worried as the Nizamuddin-Yeshwantpur Sampark Kranti train, in which Shri Mohan Bhagwat was travelling to Bengaluru, arrived nearly two and half hours behind the schedule and landed on a different platform! Station Master at the Yeshwantpur railway station informed that train would stop on platform No. 2, hence senior RSS leaders Dr Prabhakar Bhat, Prant Karyavah, Shri Kajampady Subramanya Bhat, Saha-Prant Karyavah, Shri Mukund, Prant Pracharak and several others who were waiting there to receive Shri Mohan Bhagwat had to literally run towards the platform No 1 at the last minute. Till that time no one among thousands of passengers at the railway station knew about the arrival of Shri Bhagwat. Secrecy was maintained in such a way that even intelligence officers were seen frantically trying to gather information so as to escort him. Shri Mohan Bhagwat got down from the train poisely and humbly greeted a handful of RSS leaders and other well-wishers by folding his hands. Soon, news of his arrival spread like a wildfire and hundreds of passengers started gathering all along the way to have a glimpse of Shri Bhagwat. That was the beginning of jubilant mood in Bengaluru and the same trend continued till the end of Sarsanghachalak’s public meet at Palace grounds on 22-11-2009. The two-day visit went off in such a way that not a single moment of Sarsanghachalak’s time was wasted for a trivial cause.
