Now Ayatollah Khomeni street! (Organiser, 11-6-2006); I came to know from the Organiser that a street in Hyderabad would be named after Ayatollah Khomeni. It is not only outrageous but a matter of shame for the self-respecting nationalist and patriotic people of India and harmful for the unity, integrity and solidarity of India as Khomeni was a fundamentalist and anti-secular Islamic leader. He preached: ?Jehad means the conquest of non-Muslim territories. The dominance of Quranic law from one end of the earth to the other is the final goal of this war of conquest.? It means that Khomeni propagated to wage war against all non-Muslim countries including India, as India is a non-Muslim territory. Therefore, it is high time for the people of India to discard slavish mentality and people of Hyderabad should rise to the occasion to start an agitation to stop naming the road after Ayatollah Khomeni.

The proposal to name a street in Hyderabad after Ayatollah?s name is fraught with danger. It is not clear from Ch. David Raj?s letter whether the Government of Andhra Pradesh or Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has mooted it. Khomeni was a bigot, medieval in outlook and an obscurantist. He was against reforms and modernisation. Is the proposal an attempt to appease the Muslims for sustaining its vote-bank? It is preposterous, anti-national and should be resisted by all peaceful means.

The N-deal debate (Organiser, 9-7-2006); The editorial is very informative. Here I would like to say that the American Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice has recently praised India?s stance on the nuclear deal. She has said that you cannot compare India with Pakistan or any other country because India is a responsible and peace-loving country. More than 50 years of history has proved this point. India has never flouted international regulations or norms on the nuclear front. India on becoming a nuclear power will establish peace in the world. Over a thousand of years of history has been a witness to it. Therefore, nobody should oppose India on this issue. The Bhagavadgita says that to protect the good, you have to destroy the evil. Only then can you protect the world.

Goddess of small lies (Organiser, 9-7-2006); The column on Arundhati Roy?s double standards on various issues is an eye-opener. Modern-day English-speaking intellectuals have used their power to serve anti-development and anti-national forces. Arundhati Roy is one of those intellectuals who only aspire to fame and reputation at the international level by writing against the majority community. When Hindus respond to the violence perpetrated by other communities they are dubbed communal. They quickly cite religious scripture or Constitution to show that neither religion nor Constitution prescribes violence. But those communities who commit most gruesome acts such as murder or rape are hailed; they are right because their religion demands that non-believers should be killed, their property burnt and their womenfolk be carried off. It is a truism that communal riots all over India are started by Muslims. Even in Orissa, where the presence of Muslims is nominal, Hindus live in constant fear of the former, what to speak of other states where they have a higher percentage in terms of local population. Yet what we see today is that all states are in an apparent fray to reserve jobs for them and build schools for them.

Save Education, Save India (Organiser, 2-7-2006); On the one hand we are observing the carefully planned and executed conspiracy to defame the symbols of Indian religion, culture and tradition. On the other hand, a calculated move is afloat to give priority to other religions, when actually a secular government should not interfere in the religious affairs of the people. But here in India we have unscrupulous central government, which has no qualms about interfering in the religious freedom of Hindus, while granting extra-constitutional privileges to the minorities. It is a dangerous trend that even the Supreme Court?s rulings are dishonoured by this government. Its latest move for a ?minority welfare? budget is also highly discriminatory.

Hidden agenda: A report was appeared in several newspapers on June 28/29, 2006, that the CBSE has discontinued the practice of recommending private publishers? textbooks in different subjects, including their Hindi editions, at the senior secondary level from the academic session 2005-2006. The CBSE has not explained the reasons for discontinuing this practice and for issuing this belated statement in the last week of June 2006, which should have been circulated well before the start of academic session 2005-2006, i.e in March 2005 itself at the latest. It raises many questions as people have spent crores of rupees on buying these unauthorised and un-recommended textbooks published by private publishers. This smacks of a great scandal, fraud and conspiracy against the students, enacted by the CBSE and other concerned authorities. There is an urgent need for transparency in the matter. The CBSE must spell out the real and genuine reasons behind this unprecedented move.

Warn the United States and Pakistan? Now! (Organiser, 25-6-2006); Pakistan has contributed in making Al-Qaeda a slick, modern group wreaking havoc across the world by latest know-how. The fundamentalists have acquired a well-oiled terrorist machine. The recent attacks in Afghanistan were made from Quetta with the full knowledge of Pakistan?s President. In a recent issue of Christian Science Monitor, Paul Sperry, a noted policy analyst, has stated that Pakistan must be checked forthwith as it is taking the US for a ride. Despite Islamabad?s dubious role in terror, as revealed frequently, it is unbelievable that Pak gets $370 million anti-ship missiles to navy, which can be launched from submerged submarines.

Enlightening: Your readers are very happy and pleased to have this nationalist weekly, which has an innovative layout with news, views and analysis appealing to all sections of our society. The short stories for children by M.V. Kolhatkar are really very educative and enlightening.

Paradoxes of the oriental mind (Organiser, 11-6-2007); There are many factual errors in the article by M.S.N. Menon. Japanese has not turned Buddhism into a militarist regime. The percentage of the Christians in Japan today is only one, not 40. Although Japan was closed for the hostile foreigners like Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese until about 1860, friendly foreigners like Dutch, British and Germans were welcomed and allowed to settle down in Nagasaki, which was the only open city in Japan for foreigners before the Meiji restoration. Japan has not defeated Russia as such, but only the Russian navy?s Northern Fleet in 1904-05 sea-battle with the help of British battleships, as Britain and Russia then were competing against each other in both Europe and Asia. Britain helped both the Turkish Sultan and the Japanese Emperor against Russia. Russian land army was approaching in vast numbers immediately after that sea-battle and Japan had requested USA to mediate to avoid total defeat. USA had managed to negotiate a settlement of disputes between Russia and Japan in 1905.

BJP launches 9-day Save Doda Andolan in Jammu (Organiser, 18-6-2006); It is fine that Vinay Katiyar has announced a prize of one lakh rupees each for killing of a terrorist by a civilian in self-defence. BJP should announce a similar prize for the whole country.

?ANAND PRAKASH,
72/Sector 8, Panchkula

If it is an incitement or an offence to ask the bereaved people of Jammu to help themselves and come forward to fight terrorists boldly and be honoured with the case reward, then what else is the solution to fight terrorists when the state government itself has failed to maintain law and order in the state for long? Lodging of an FIR against Vinay Katiyar clearly exposes the J&K government?s divided interests to keep the flame burning to oust the Hindus from the J&K state.

?RAMDEV JHAMB,

*   *   *

The Congress-led J&K government appears to be pro-terrorist and sympathetic towards them. Otherwise, it would not have dared consider taking a legal action against Vinay Katiyar. What was wrong in his announcement? On the contrary, the government should have appreciated and welcomed it.

A game twice lost (Organiser, 11-6-2006); President Kalam has done the correct thing by sending the half-baked bill on offices of profit for reconsideration. There are reports enough in the media indicating that the mood in UPA is to send the bill again to the President. What are the options for the President? It is not a case of Hobson?s choice. The President, of course, cannot return the bill again to Lok Sabha. But he need not sign it if he feels that the bill subverts the Indian Constitution. He has the option to make a big sacrifice of his post?much bigger and more realistic sacrifice than the one Chairperson of the UPA had made. Having sacrificed his post rather than do an unconstitutional act, he could seek re-election?the electorate consisting only a minority of members holding office of profit will realise the gravity of the situation and send back Shri Kalam with a much bigger majority. This will be the correct retort to the foolish moves of the Congress and the commies.

The elite writer rightly says that President?s returning of the bill is a slap on UPA?s face. It in reality is a double slap on all those MPs an MLAs who are still hoping to retain their seats.

Naxalism: The threat India overlooks (Organiser, 30-4-2006); Varun Gandhi?s article on Naxal threat is most constructive and a critical view of the alarming danger of Naxalism throughout India to be threatened by Red-bully under different names and forms. This danger appears to be much greater than Islamic jehad and Christian conversion spree to threaten even the very existence of India. At present, the UPA has in fact been formed by the same combine of the Congress, the Communists and the Muslim League, who stand condemned for collaborating roles in executing the master plan for two-nation theory. In fact, various outfits of Naxalism have their origin in the ?Communist parties?, who may be acting as frontal wings.

Decadent action: One of the several accusations made by Chandrababu Naidu against the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh is that the police acted only against the TDP workers but connived at the Congress activists, who indulged in poll violence in the recently held Panchayat raj elections. The reasons are of course too obvious. How can the policemen, who get their orders from the Congress CM, be expected to beat up his own erring Congress folks? That is the advantage a politician in power enjoys against his political rivals in opposition.

Escape from freedom: Kamla Das, a noted scholar from Kerala, was fascinated by the ?liberal and peaceful? Islam and converted to it. Now Kamla Das (Islamic name Kamla Surayya) says that she deeply regrets converting to Islam. The poet, writer and novelist alleges that all her wealth has been squandered by her Muslim friends in the name of zakat. She is frustrated and lost her capacity and will to confront the difficulties that threaten Muslim women.
