Harbhagwan Das P. Arora passes away
Shri Harbhagawan Das P. Arora, a veteran swayamsevak of Chennai shakha
and prominent leader of the BJP in Tamil Nadu died on September 22
at Chennai. He was ailing for sometime. Following the footsteps of
his illustrious father the late Shri Parasram Jethanand who was a
staunch nationalist Shri Das joined the RSS when he was very young
and continued to serve the organisation till his last breath. During
the first satyagraha offered by the RSS in 1948-49 against the ban
imposed on the organisation Shri Das was a college student and offered
satyagraha as an individual in front of the Chennai High Court.
The ruthless police chased him beating
him all the way mercilessly. It was again Shri Das who led the first
batch of satyagrahis against the imposition of Emergency in 1975.
Besides being a dedicated swayamsevak Shri Das served the organisation
as pracharak for some time in Tirunelveli District and later participated
in the building of Jana Sangh in Tamil Nadu. He had the fortune of
listening to the exposition of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on Integral
Humanism at the Vijayawada session held in 1965.
This helped him in later years to explain
the intricate philosophy to the younger generation with ease. He was
also closely associated with the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda
Kendra Movement from the beginning till his last breath. Shri Das
developed a special interest in education and this led him to his
association with the Vidya Bharati. He also served the younger generation
as Director, Youth Services of the Rotary Club. Shri Das is survived
by his wife, three sons and daughters.
