Dr Pradhan visits affected areas
THE Union Minister of State for
Surface Transport, Dr Debendra Pradhan visited the cyclone affected coastal
districts of Orissa and made an extensive survey of the region. He interacted
with the people stricken with cyclone, district administration officials and various
voluntary organisations engaged in rescue and relief and rehabilitation activities and
discussed the situation with Special Relief Commissioner and
Chief Secretary of Orissa and suggested various measures for
effectively dealing with the problem. The Minister personally supervised
the repair work of a breach of approximately 90 metres long on
NH-5 between Soro and Jamjhadi and ensured that the road is
opened to traffic. The Highway was restored on November 6. He
also visited Paradip Port and reviewed the situation there.
