Orissa Government should resign

From Our Correspondent

NATIONAL Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Pyarelal Khandelwal demanded the resignation of the Giridhar Gamang Government in Orissa for its failure to provide relief to the cyclone victims of Orissa. He alleged that although the other agencies and the central Government is trying to provide all possible help, the State Government has failed miserably to even to organise the relief operations.

The senior BJP leader further alleged that it is infighting among the ruling party ministers, MLAs and influential leaders that has become a major stumblingblock in relief and rehabilitation work in the State. With state elections round the corner, the Congress party leaders are openly fighting with each other to acquire more funds for their respective areas ultimately defeating the purpose.

The BJP secretary said that Shri Gamang had lost his cool. Even Gamang has allotted affected districts to be adopted by tiny states like Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. Only Congress ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have been offered with districts to adopt while BJP ruled state Gujarat despite making better contributions has not been allotted with any district obviously keeping political consideration in mind.

Only to hide their inefficiency the Congress is alleging of central negligence. To divert public attention it is demanding the centre to declare "National Calamity", while the Prime Minister has categorically said that funds will never be a constrain. The senior BJP leader said that the Centre till now has provided the State with 660 crores of rupees but alleged that the State Government has failed to make the benefit available to the affected people. So it is in the interest of people of the State that the Gamang Government should step down, the senior BJP leader remarked.
