Pseudo-secular body politic
INDIAN Republic is fifty. Come Republic Day, and loudspeakers all over the country would blare patriotic songs. But how many of us would remember on that day those forgotten patriots like Subhas Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh, and Chandra Shekhar Azad? The list is unending. In the last 40 years, one political party has virtually monopolised 'patriotism' and promoted only one family as the 'most favoured patriots' in this country, ostensibly with a political motive. Was only one family responsible for our Independence? In fact, going by history, it was Sardar Patel who by his untiring endeavours brought about the much-needed unification of the country after Independence. On the contrary, it was the folly of Jawaharlal Nehru that resulted in Article 370 being implanted in Kashmir. The problem persists. History of Independent India would have taken a different turn had Gandhiji not projected Nehru as the Prime Minister and instead supported Sardar Patel. Special status to Kashmir was a challenge to our very sovereignty that was rightly questioned by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. His untimely death under mysterious circumstances in Sheikh Abdullah's jail in an unresolved important mystery till today, comparable only to the sudden exit of Subhas Chandra Bose from the political scene. The regime that was at the helm was totally in contrast with what Mahatma Gandhi envisaged-a rule of law by servants of the people. Our rulers became our masters-and corrupt at that. Corruption and communalism became the order of the day. The minority-majority syndrome became a magic wand in the hands of the ruling party to garner votes. The minority community was treated with a velvet glove while any support to the cause of Hindus was dubbed communal. The Government could extend official imitations to the Pope but the King of Nepal, the only Hindu kingdom in the world had to visit India on his own. Jawaharlal Nehru's quixotic personality was very clear by his statement in his autobiography that he was a Hindu by accident of birth, a Muslim by culture, and an Englishman by education. He little cared for the Hindus who brought him to power. Rajiv Gandhi in an interview to Sunday Times, London reportedly said his grandfather was an agnostic, his father a Parsi, his wife a Christian, and he did not believe in any religion. India of the Congress regime neglected Israel just for the sake of appeasing the Muslims. A question is posed: What was the necessity of accepting Lord Mountbatten as the first Governor-General of free India whose pro-Pakistan bias was known beforehand. Problems of NorthEast were created during the Congress rule that persists even to this day. Also recall, some leaders of the then ruling Congress patronised Bhindrawala to the hilt and raised him to prominence out of obscurity in order to fight the Akali Dal leading to barbarous killing of thousands of innocent people. Because two misguided Sikhs assassinated Indira Gandhi, frenzied and frantic Congress mobs ran amuck and allegedly lynched thousands of Sikhs in Delhi. Under Article 30(1) of the Indian Constitution, Muslims can teach the Koran and Christians the Bible in their schools and colleges that are given cent per cent grant by the Government, but the Hindus are deprived of the right to teach Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, Ramayana and Mahabharata to their children on the plea that India is 'secular'. Chapter and verse can be quoted listing Congress blunders and heinous crimes that go to prove that pseudo-secularism in India is anti-Hindu causing irreparable damage to the fabric of Indian body politic. A vigilant and united society alone can guard infringement of its rights. May awareness spread amongst us Issued in Public Interest by
