Madhav Da is no more

Veteran RSS Pracharak and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Shri Madhav Rao Banhatti, popularly known as Madhav Da, passed away in Pune on April 1 after a brief illness. He was 74. Born on February 19, 1927 in Maharashtra Shri Banhatti completed his B.Sc. in 1945, remained a bachelor and dedicated his whole life as a RSS Pracharak in the service of the Motherland. He worked for the cause in various capacities in West Bengal, Mauritius and East Africa. Everybody and anybody who came in contact with him gravitated towards him due to his happy, welcoming gregarious, contributed and altruistic disposition. He was Central Secretary and Joint Coordinator for international coordination division of the VHP. He was also editing the official organ of VHP Hindu Vishwa.

A condolence meeting was held at the VHP headquarter in New Delhi to pay tributes to Madhav Banhatti. Paying tribute the Sarsanghchalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan said that Madhav Da stood as an ideal example for the swayamsevaks by leading a life of extreme simplicity and by devoting his entire life for the Motherland—an inspired life of a swayamsevak characterised in the daily shakha prayer. Glowing tributes were paid by Shri Ashok Singhal who spoke about the complete dedication and commitment of Madhav Da. As a pracharak, Madhav Da spent 12 years in Mauritius and he is affectionately remembered in Mauritius to this day, he added. Apart from hundreds of VHP workers and close associates of Madav Da, Prof Rajendra Singh, VHP president Shri Vishnu Hari Dalmia and Vice-President Acharya Giriraj Kishore also paid tributes to the departed soul.
