Chennai: RSS and Sewa Bharati workers jointly organised annual cleaning drive on October 2 across Tamil Nadu. Like-minded organisations, people from various walks of life including women, children enthusiastically participated in the Maha Seva cleaning drive.

The drive at Perambur in Chennai, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was inaugurated from Murasoli Maran Park at 7.00 am by Shri Chittibabu, president, Ganga Foundation in the presence of Minister for Tamil Language, Tamil Culture & Archaeology Shri K. Pandiarajan. The programme included cleaning the entire stretch of Paper Mills Road of 5.7 KM starting from Perambur Railway Station to Vinayagapuram Bus stand in the same locality. Apart from road cleaning, awareness on Plastic ban, Tree planting and school cleaning were also done by Perambur district swayamsevaks and volunteers.
The valedictory session was conducted at Shanti Sesha Mahal in Lakshmipuram. Earlier, during the inaugural session, Shri Chittibabu recalled the selfless work and also the discipline of Swayamsevaks when they immediately arranged the disorderly kept footwear in proper manner. Minister Shri K. Pandiarajan said he was very happy to participate in the programme of noble cause and urged the audience to follow the values and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri D Shankar recalled Gandhiji’s efforts to eradicate untouchability and emphasised that the swayamsevaks have been following this. In total about 680 swayamsevaks and 700 school students participated in the programme. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sampark Samooh member Shri Ravikumar, RSS North Tamil Nadu State Co-Organiser Shri. D Shankar, RSS Perambur President Shri Parshva Kumar, Everwin School Founder Shri Purusothaman and many other others participated in the grand event.
